In life, there are days and moments where everything we do does not feel enough, or face situations that are beyond our control. A common response to such instances is to doubt ourselves and our abilities, and that is a very normal and human thing to do. But the effect of self-doubt can cut both ways: It can either spur us to achieve our goals and thereby boost our confidence levels, or cause us to feel entirely powerless and paralysed. Fortunately, whether we allow it to work for or against us is mostly up to us. In this issue, we will explore the ways in which we can harness self-doubt to build confidence -- one step at a time.

Moving from Self Doubt to Self Confidence

It would be nice if moving from self doubt to self confidence just came naturally. However, moving from self doubt to self confidence is a practice you can adopt, with practice. When you are able to identify where your insecurities lie and what is stopping you from feeling confident, you can then start the process of moving from self doubt to self confidence. You will be able to work on eliminating the blocks that are keeping you from moving through life with assuredness. Here are some of the culprits for the patterns of self doubt and ideas for what you can do about them.

Why confidence and knowledge can lead to smart money decisions

Two common areas that cause people to procrastinate financially are knowledge and confidence. Logically, we know that financial literacy can boost our confidence to make informed money-management decisions. While some need mindset adjustments, others need a confidence boost or a little reassurance that they are on the right track. Take small steps, follow and when doubt starts to creep in, remind yourself that money is only a tool and you are learning.

Candy Chan. Executive Secretary. GuocoLand

Diana was introduced to me by a friend a year ago. Diana is very professional in her work and had provided very valuable advice for my retirement planning. I have benefited from her professional and excellent services and will continue to seek her in every investment opportunity that arises.

Danny Chew. Senior Operations Executive. OUB Centre Limited

Diana has been a great financial adviser and friend for the past decade. Since the first time I met up with her for the first financial review, Diana has shown the commitment of looking for positive ways to better my coverage, financial growth and retirement needs. Other than the quarterly meetups to review my coverage, there are also the constant sharing of market changes and updates of new plans Prudential has to offer. In the years of providing her expertise, she has been showing her in-depth understanding of financial planning. Along with a good listening ear, she has been recommending products to address my concerns. Unlike other financial planners, Diana is not pushy and does not focus on selling policies. Thanks to her recommendations, I am able to increase my coverage for the possible emergencies one can face in life, better my expected financial status at retirement and set my mind at ease should I ever meet with an unexpected situation. I look forward to the many more decades to come with Diana as my financial adviser.

Yilin Ng. Account Executive. PTC Inc

Having been first introduced to Diana by my husband, I found her very knowledgeable. Not only does she explain and update us, she will recommend what she feels will benefit us the most. She truly listens to our family’s needs and help us out. Meeting her is always a catch-up as friends! Diana has truly gone above and beyond to help us out, even when she didn’t have to. Thank you Diana!

Gerry Perreira. Team Manager. Citibank

Diana has been our financial advisor for many years. She is helpful and understanding towards our needs and interests during our reviews. Diana is an expert in her work and provides comprehensive views during discussions. A benefit is that we are both parents, having common concerns for our children, planning from birth to growing up. I would like to express my thanks for the work you have done for us over the past 10 years.

Pearl Kaur. Manager. AGC Academy.

Diana has been my consultant for almost 10 years now. She has always amazed me with how updated she is about the latest changes, new plans on offer and industry trends. She is sharp and able to strategise on how to maximise the utility and returns on my portfolio by changing up plans or adding different riders. It is such a comfort to have a consultant that you can trust to make the best decisions for you. Her genuine care for her clients and warm personality coupled with a strong business acumen has made investing in insurance a stress-free experience for me.
